Buyukada Moris Danon Collection Book

In recent years, we have been working to preserve the buildings on the Princes’ Islands of Istanbul and to record the memory there. Büyükada: The Moris Danon Collection is an extremely important resource that can shed light on these studies. A collection of photographs, manuscripts, and first prints with dedications, mostly dating from the mid-19th century to the second quarter of the 20th century, brought together by Moris Danon, have in common that they belong to Büyükada. The images of daily life that center on the island’s allure reflect the collective memory of a privileged world that, thanks to its physical separation, is relatively free from state control and official protocol.
