Welcome to the Istanbul Architecture Diary!
Merhaba!
As an important hub for people interested in culture, Turkey and Istanbul have become more popular for creatives worldwide due to recent global changes. While cultural productions in the city are enriched with the participation of stakeholders from different geographies, The Istanbul Architecture Diary aims to be an inclusive, pluralistic platform that reveals the city’s cultural diversity.
The Istanbul Architecture Diary launched in 2022 with the initiation of the founding editors; Nurgül Yardım Meriçliler, founder of Anylab Experimental Studio based in London and Nurullah Kaya, who continues to work under the name of “nuka+” in architecture and design communications in İstanbul. They have collaborated on many projects between London and Istanbul for many years, and they believe the “Istanbul Architecture Diary” will strengthen the dialogue between London and Istanbul and the other cities in The Architecture Diary network.
The Istanbul Architecture Diary aims to present significant events throughout Turkey, particularly in Istanbul, in the broadest sense. We think that the most meaningful aspect of this platform is to reveal the richness and diversity of the Istanbul cultural ecosystem with all its components and to help local and international audiences navigate the cultural agenda comfortably with the platform’s multilingual structure. We invite all museums, galleries, cultural institutions, architecture schools and independent event organisers that organise exhibitions, installations, talks, discussions, film screenings and conferences, tours, and walks in this area to be a part of this community.
The Istanbul Architecture Diary, managed by Nurgül Yardim Meriçliler (Anylab) and Nurullah Kaya (nuka+) with the support of New London Architecture (NLA), is an open platform that allows all individuals and organisations organising architecture and design events to upload and manage their events.
The Istanbul Architecture Diary is a new initiative that offers a shared platform for all architecture and design-related events across the city.
Managed by Nurullah Kaya, Nurgul Yardim Mericliler with help from New London Architecture (NLA), the Istanbul Architecture Diary also forms part of an international network of go-to guides for all things architecture from around the globe. London, New York and Ireland are already on the list, with more locations to be added in the upcoming months.
As an open platform, the Istanbul Architecture Diary allows everyone who organises architecture and design events to upload and manage their event listings. If you run your own architecture events, then creating an account is a quick, easy, and free way to make sure they get promoted.
Events are handily categorised according to type (such as a talk, exhibition, or workshop), with a time, date/duration, and venue information provided for each. Make sure to browse and explore the full variety of activities on offer – it’s now easier than ever to find out what’s happening in architecture and design anywhere in the country.
