The Emerging Architects Selection and Exhibition (GEMSS), organized for the third time by The Circle, aiming to create a current archive of practices contributing to Turkish architectural culture, will open at The Circle on December 20, 2023! The exhibition will be open every day from December 20, 2023, to February 18, 2024, between 10:00 and 19:00.

GEMSS positions itself in a distinct and complementary manner from similar selections by aiming to make visible practices that have been shaped by and are shaping Turkey's architectural culture. The exhibition features 10 practices (6 individuals and 4 teams) continuing their practices in alternative fields, scales, and mediums of architecture in Turkey and around the world.

An Open Call held from May 5 to July 9, 2023, received numerous qualified applications from different countries and many cities in Turkey. The Selection Committee, consisting of Alexis Şanal, Ertuğ Uçar, Matthew Warner, Merve Bedir, Yılmaz Değer, and Zehra Akdemir Veryeri, came together online on July 25 under the moderation of Sait Ali Köknar and formed the GEMSS'23 selection. Among 87 qualified applicants, 10 practices were chosen to be represented at the GEMSS'23 exhibition opening on December 20.

Continuing with the announced selection on August 2, the GEMSS'23 process will bring together the GEMSS community and cultural environment as of December 20. A series of Side Events and the GEMSS'23 Publication, taking place in January and February, will support the process.
