Salt is hosting the Earthquake Resistant Cities of Tomorrow exhibition, prepared in collaboration with Boğaziçi University Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute, Department of Earthquake Engineering and Pattu Architecture. While the 6 February 2023 earthquakes revealed the urgency of taking necessary precautions against future disasters, they also brought up the need to examine the "disaster" phenomenon from different perspectives. The exhibition, which aims to shed light on the scientific background of the earthquake phenomenon, deals with the design and planning principles of the cities of the future with the focus of structural, institutional, spatial and social perspectives.
Located in the Forum area in Salt Beyoğlu, the exhibition offers an interdisciplinary approach that brings together relevant experts, researchers, different social groups and decision makers. The project, which aims to contribute to the planning of earthquake-resistant cities, examines the spatial risks associated with earthquakes and how structures and cities of the future can be designed in this context.
Public programs parallel to the exhibition held as part of the Tomorrow's Cities project, supported by the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF), will be announced on saltonline.org and Salt's social media channels.
