Alev Ebüzziya Siesbye / Solo Exhibition

Following her exhibitions at Fondation Cartier (Paris) and Pierre Marie Giraud (Brussels), Alev Ebüzziya Siesbye, whose works are included in the collections of 36 different museums around the world, is exhibiting her new works at Galeri Nev Istanbul. The exhibition, which will take place between February 25 and March 28, 2025, includes a selection of the artist’s 2024 bowls, mostly in white tones. These works, produced in various sizes, meet the audience with a simple display just like themselves.

For nearly sixty years, Alev Ebüzziya Siesbye has been creating high-fired bowls that have become her signature. Shaped using the coiling technique—one of the oldest methods in ceramics—and a wooden kick wheel, these bowls bear the traces of the artist’s every touch. Fired at extremely high temperatures, they possess the hardness and stability of stone. Their wide, curved bodies cast shadows over their small bases, creating the illusion of floating. Their sharp rims reveal the delicate thinness and remarkable strength of their walls.
